Johnsons Workwear Win Top HR Industry Award

At the prestigious Personnel Today Awards 2018, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night, (21 November) Johnsons Workwear beat off stiff competition to win the award for the Talent Management category. Other well-known and respected UK and global organisations that were shortlisted in this category were BT, Fujitsu, the Royal College of Nursing, DPD UK, and The Berkeley Partnership. Personnel Today described the standard of entries this year as ‘extremely high’.

Gerry Moore, Johnsons Workwear’s Managing Director commented: “We were honoured to be listed with some of the biggest names in UK business and to take the top prize was even more amazing. We believe in investing in our people to ensure they become the future of our business and to gain a top industry award like this is tangible evidence of the success our Learning and Development team is having with The Johnsons Academy.”

Feedback from participants in The Johnsons Academy has shown that the confidence and skill of the individuals involved increased considerably over a 12 month period with over 70% of Academy members promoted to a new position within the organisation over an 18 month period. Learning and Development Manager for Johnsons Workwear Michela Deegan added: “Our talent management programme needed to be developed to match the needs of staff from Aberdeen to Exeter, who are in a wide variety of roles from shop floor staff to Transport Supervisors and Customer Service Administrators. We created The Johnsons Academy to give staff, selected through a robust nomination and application process, the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge and build their internal networks, alongside live project work on real business issues. We believe that we have some of the very best people at Johnsons and this structured and tailored programme help us to develop our rising stars.”
